TriStar Motors Complaint, Gotplates.com Complaint, and Joseph Weatherman Complaint

TriStar Motors LLC, www.gotplates.com, and Joseph Weatherman Complaint and Negative Experience

Joseph Weatherman is a documented LIAR, BULLY, and a COWARD

I attended a DMV required 6 hour class which was suppose to cost $100. The class lasted only 2 hours. After the class I received a rude call from the owner of TriStar Motors, which conducts the class for the CA DMV, demanding that I pay an additional $100. He was rude, insulting, and unprofessional. Like a child, he hung up on me when I asked him to explain why the cost doubled, and why the class was only 2 hours. I had been told by the DMV that it was a mandatory 6 hour class.

After the phone call I paid the additional $100. Joseph Weatherman, the owner of both TriStar Motors LLC and gotplates.com, then decided to tell me that he was not going to provide me with the certification documents which I had paid for and earned and that I was suppose to receive for completing the class. When I told him that I would file a complaint and write a review he threatened to call the police on me (what?). In unethical retaliation, he called my wife's employer (a Los Angeles law firm) twice on the phone, jeopardizing her job. When I tried to calmly settle the situation, Joseph Weatherman demanded that I attend the class again, retake the online tutorial again, pay $200 again, write a sworn statement that I would not file a formal complaint with the DMV, write a sworn statement that I would not write anything about him or his companies online, and remove any reviews that I had already written.

He somehow believes that "Bullying" is an option. It turns out that he has a history of abuse.

The California DMV authorizes a number of companies to conduct educational classes. One such class is the 6 hour dealer pre-licensing class which must be completed prior to taking the DMV test to obtain your Dealers License. TriStar Motors LLC is one of the DMV Dealer Education Providers listed on the California DMV website. Tristar Motors LLC's website is www.gotplates.com and the owner of both companies is Joseph Weatherman. Online, the address listed for TriStar Motors LLC is 1601 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA. In preparing documents to send to the DMV, I looked this address up and found that it is a parking lot for City Lights. I called City Lights to verify this. The address is not for TriStar Motors LLC. The DMV listed address is 701 Illinois Street, San Francisco

However, this address is a vacant building and lot and the listed number is no good.

TriStar Motors LLC provides its DMV Dealer Education services through its website www.gotplates.com. The particular class which I needed to attend in order for me to receive my Dealer License from the California DMV is the 6 hour Dealer Pre-Licensing Class. The class is a mandatory 6 hour class, and by attending the class, you receive a Certificate, which you must have in order to take the DMV written Dealer License test. TriStar Motors LLC offers this class for $100 if you take, and complete an online tutorial. I chose to do this. I completed the tutorial and printed the verification page to bring to class and present to the class instructor, Claudia Patton. The class was scheduled for 11:00 AM on 3/24/15 at 2528 Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles CA. I arrived on time. I gave the tutorial proof of completion and $100 cash to the instructor, and received a receipt. Class began, with no issues, questions, or comments. The instructor was professional, polite, and informative. The class did not last 6 hours, but ended in only 2 hours. The class ended with a handshake, a wish of success, an exchange of business cards, and an offer to "call if you need anything. I will be happy to help", by the instructor.

Later that evening, the owner, Joseph Weatherman called me on the phone and was immediately rude, telling me that I owed him $100 and asking if I was prepared to pay him right then. Since I was attending a group meeting, I had to remove myself from the room to further discuss the matter, which seemed to make Mr. Weatherman impatient. When I asked him to explain why I was being asked to pay an additional $100, he insulted me and told me that I did not follow the rules; that if I was unable to follow rules I was destined to fail, and that if I did not pay the $100 he would withhold the Certificate. I told him that I did not appreciate him tone and that all I wanted was an appropriate explanation. I told him that I would make the payment but I also told him that I had some issues to discuss with him. I told him that I had issues with the gotplates.com website, especially the tutorial section, where I had found, notated, and printed out over 30 instances which referenced DMV rules and changes but none were more current than 2006. I told him that I had cross-referenced most of the rules that I had noted and found that much of the DMV information had changed and been updated, but that the gotplates.com tutorial section of his website had not, but was providing outdated information. I gave him specific examples. I also told him that none of the more than 30 links to various DMV forms, DMV specific information, and other useful information, worked; not a single one. At this, he said that he was not discussing this with me, and that if I did not pay him he would report me to the DMV for violating the rule. I said "That does not make any sense, violating what rules?". He hung up on me. I proceeded to pay the demanded additional payment of $100.

Apparently Joseph Weatherman does not accept criticism well. What Joseph Weatherman decided to do next was unprofessional, retaliatory and in violation of the DMV rules. He emailed me and told me that he was not going to give me the Certificate. Doing this is a violation of the DVM rules and policies. I paid and I attended the class. I told him that I would contact the DMV Inspectors Office and write a few reviews about his actions. His response was to tell me that he called the police to report harassment and threats. I guess he thinks writing a review is a threat. I asked him to provide me with a case number and contact for the Police Department. He could not, because he lied and never contacted the police.

This is not the end of his Bullying however. Even though this situation is strictly between him and me, Joseph Weatherman does something that is very unethical.  Up to this point, I have spoken to Joseph Weatherman on the phone at least 6 times. Even though every call ends with him hanging up the phone on me, he knows that I am prepared to communicate with him at any time. He decides that it will somehow benefit him more to contact my wife's employer, who is an attorney. The call is an unprofessional rant full of lies with the purpose of jeopardizing her job. To make this worse, he calls her employer twice. During one call, he tells her employer that he was once a police officer. I guess this was supposed to be intimidating, but was a foolish thing to say.

Joseph Weatherman was a police officer for the City of San Francisco. He was sued 6 times for excessive abuse. He was suspended for punching a man in custody. He was given community service for beating up a child while off duty and out of uniform. He was charged with being a "discredit to the Police Department". He was charged with "failure to report the use of force". He was charged with "failure to answer questions truthfully and without evasion".

While he was married, he had a lengthy sexual relationship with another woman, who eventually terminated that relationship. For over a year, Joseph Weatherman harassed and stalked this woman, threatening her, her job, her family; he even threatened to kill himself. After a year of this abuse, and countless attempts by his employer to get him to stop the harassment, he was finally fired from the San Francisco Police Department; a rare occurrence.

This man is not the kind of person that I would ever associate with in my personal life or my professional life. It is all documented. He commits Adultery. He is a documented Child Abuser. It is documented that he inappropriately abused and mistreated San Francisco citizens, He is a documented Stalker. He is a documented Harasser. He is a documented Liar. He has been sued many times. His website is outdated. His addresses are invalid. He has violated DMV rules. You may not get what you pay for if you attend his class.

With this information, and all that I have experienced from this person, I have determined that Joseph Weatherman is both a BULLY and a COWARD. I have decided that I will file a formal complaint against TriStar Motors LLC, gotplates.com, and Joseph Weatherman, charging the following:
.

  • 1- Refusing to provide me with the required, and earned Certificate for completing the class, in violation of the DMV rules and policies
.

  • 2- Not providing the DMV mandatory 6 hours of class time, but only conducting class for 2 hour. I have received statements from employees at the class location verifying that the classes are regularly shorter than the required 6 hours. I will continue to gather documentation to prove this at other class locations.
.

  • 3- Violating my wife's privacy and causing her job to be jeopardized by contacting her employer by telephone twice. Bear in mind that she has nothing to do with the class, my business, or Mr. Weatherman.
.

  • 4- Providing extremely outdated study material to class attendees. Study material refers to 2006 rules and information. Not a single website link is currently working to redirect the student to pertinent information.
.

  • 5- That Joseph Weatherman demanded that I provide him with a sworn notarized statement that I would not file a formal complaint with the CA DMV Investigators, in an attempt to intimidate me into silence.

  • 6- Harassment and threats to me, my wife, my home, and my property.
